DockHub 1.0 Milestone

Native macOS support & desktop parity.

DockHub 1.0 marks a major milestone: full cross-platform parity between Windows 10/11 (.NET 10) and macOS 15 Sequoia (Swift 6). Experience native floating panels, Web Widgets SDK 1.0, 30+ built-in interactive widgets, automated crash safety, and shared configuration.

Built from the ground up for macOS.

Native Swift 6 architecture with strict concurrency, AppKit floating panels, and smooth spring animations. DockHub can accompany the macOS dock or automatically conceal it while active. Includes Mac-tailored widgets like Calendar with 1-click meeting join, AirDrop, Apple Shortcuts, and Bluetooth battery monitoring. Special thanks to @farukolmez22 for contributions and testing.

Web widgets & SDK 1.0.

Build custom desktop widgets with standard HTML, CSS, and modern JavaScript without writing C# or Swift. Runs on WebView2 (Windows) and WKWebView (macOS) with safe network sandboxing, theme synchronization, and 1-click installation from GitHub or .dockwidget packages. SDK guide ›

Upgraded to .NET 10 LTS.

Windows core upgraded to Microsoft .NET 10 LTS (supported through 2028). Built-in crash protection restarts the dock seamlessly; in any failure, the original Windows taskbar instantly returns with zero system alteration.

30+ widgets & AI quotas.

Live tracking for Claude Code (5-hour and weekly), OpenAI Codex, and Gemini CLI right on your dock. Plus battery monitoring for Bluetooth headsets, mice, Xbox/PlayStation controllers, and Logitech/Razer gear.

Quick launcher, Spotlight style.

Type to find apps, open windows, DockHub and system settings, recent files, and dock commands. It does quick math, unit and currency conversions, or searches the web on Enter. Open it with Win + Alt + Space (or ⌘⌥Space).

Profiles that switch automatically.

Bring in your gaming dock while a game runs, or your work dock during office hours. When the app closes or the hours end, DockHub goes back.

Complete cross-platform parity in v1.0.

Every feature refined, tested, and aligned across Windows and macOS.

  • Unified config.json. Shared settings schema between Windows and macOS with automatic daily backups and instant Undo (Ctrl+Z / ⌘Z).
  • Four languages. Complete interface localization in English, Turkish, German, and Spanish.
  • Multi-monitor docks. Put independent floating docks on every connected screen with per-monitor DPI scaling.
  • Zero administrator privileges. 100% safe user space execution. Explorer and Finder are never modified or injected.

Full v1.0.0 release notes

Windows, customized your way.

DockHub can seamlessly replace the default Windows taskbar, or coexist right above it as an independent floating dock.

Replace the taskbar.

Start menu, search, running apps, system tray, and clock unified in a single fluid dock. The Windows key, Action Center, and Quick Settings continue to open Windows' native panels as expected.

Both together.

Leave the default Windows taskbar untouched with its own tray. DockHub hovers gracefully above it, dedicated entirely to your favorite apps and live desktop widgets.

Packed with widgets. All built in.

Any screen edge.

Bottom, top, left, or right. On vertical edges, widgets adapt into compact pills displaying key values at a glance.

Tucks away when not needed.

Auto-hide glides the dock off-screen until you hover the edge. Automatically hides during full-screen games, videos, and F11 mode.

Pin straight from Explorer.

Frequently asked questions.

Can't find the answer you're looking for?

Ask on GitHub
What happens to my Windows taskbar?

In "Replace" mode, the taskbar is smoothly hidden and set to auto-hide; Explorer is never terminated. When DockHub exits, crashes, or during logoff, your taskbar immediately returns to its original state. In "Both together" mode, the Windows taskbar is left completely untouched.

Does DockHub require administrator privileges?

No. DockHub runs purely as a standard user process. Running as administrator is actually discouraged, because Windows prevents drag-and-drop between unelevated Explorer windows and elevated processes.

What if the app crashes or is forcibly killed?

The built-in crash handler restores the taskbar before the process exits. In the event of a sudden power loss or force-kill via Task Manager, the taskbar remains in auto-hide mode and will slide open when your mouse hovers the screen edge. On your next session or by running "DockHub.exe --restore-taskbar", the original state is cleanly restored.

Which platforms and operating systems are supported?

Windows 10 (1809+) & Windows 11 (x64 and Snapdragon ARM64), plus macOS 15+ Sequoia (Apple Silicon and Intel). Windows builds bundle .NET 10 LTS, while macOS is 100% native Swift 6 and AppKit.

How does DockHub work on macOS?

On macOS, DockHub runs as a high-performance floating AppKit panel with SwiftUI views. It can run as an auxiliary companion dock or automatically conceal the native macOS Dock while active (configurable in Settings › General).

Does it launch automatically on startup?

Yes. By default, the installer configures DockHub to start with Windows. You can easily toggle this off during installation or at any time in Settings › General.

Do maximized windows cover the dock?

No. Like the Windows taskbar, the dock reserves its band of the screen: maximized windows stop at the dock at any display scaling and on every display that has a dock. DockHub rechecks it after display and Explorer changes and repairs it by itself.

How do I add widgets and change their appearance?

Right-click any empty space on the dock and select "Add widget", or browse the Widget Gallery in Settings and click the "+" button. To change a widget's style, right-click it directly on the dock and choose an option from the "Appearance" submenu.

Do Win + 1…9 and the other taskbar shortcuts work?

Yes. Win + 1…9 and Win + 0 open, switch to or minimize the dock's first ten apps, with Shift for a new window, Ctrl + Shift to run as administrator and Alt for the jump list. Hold Win to see the numbers. You can also set your own shortcuts for showing the dock, the quick launcher, opening settings, pinning an app, auto-hide, volume and the microphone in Settings › Keyboard shortcuts.

What is the quick launcher?

A Spotlight-style search box that opens with Win + Alt + Space (or the search button, if you choose so in Settings › Taskbar). It finds apps, open windows, DockHub and Windows settings, recent files and dock commands, does quick math like 200*15%, and searches the web for anything else.

Can a profile switch by itself?

Yes. A profile can switch in when a given number of displays is connected, while an app runs (for example steam or cs2), or during set hours, weekdays only if you like. When the app closes or the hours end, DockHub goes back to the profile you had.

I removed something by mistake. Can I get it back?

Yes. Click Undo on the notice next to the dock, choose Undo from the dock's right-click menu, or press Ctrl + Z in Settings. Widget data such as sticky notes is kept for 7 days, so it comes back too.

Does it use an internet connection?

Only for the features that need it: the weather widget and city search (Open-Meteo), exchange rates (Frankfurter, ECB data), your own calendar link, Todoist if you connect the To do widget, the AI usage widget with Claude Code (Codex and Gemini CLI are read from their local logs), and a once-a-day update check on GitHub that you can turn off in Settings › About. Web widgets can only reach the hosts they declare. No accounts, no telemetry, no tracking.

How do updates work?

DockHub checks GitHub for a new release once a day. From Settings › About it downloads the installer, verifies its checksum and upgrades in place, keeping your settings.

Where are my settings stored?

In %AppData%\DockHub\config.json, with notes, reminders and counters in the data subfolder. Files are written atomically, and DockHub keeps a backup from each of the last 7 days and loads the newest one by itself if the settings file is ever damaged. Settings › Backup and troubleshooting exports everything to a .zip you can import on another PC.

Do the network, volume and battery icons work?

Yes. Windows 11 keeps its real icons inside Explorer, so since v0.7 DockHub draws its own. Scroll the volume icon to change the volume, middle-click to mute, right-click to switch the output device. The battery icon shows the charge and time left. Clicking them opens Windows' Quick Settings, as does Win + A. Since v0.8 the tray also shows your keyboard language (click or scroll to switch), a microphone icon you can click to mute, and the number of waiting notifications next to the clock, with a moon while Do Not Disturb is on.

Does it support multi-monitor setups?

Yes. Turn on "Show on all displays" to get a dock on every monitor, each with its own size. The main display keeps your widgets and tray, running apps follow their windows, and docks come and go as you plug monitors in. A profile can even switch in when a given number of displays is connected.

Is DockHub available in Turkish?

Yes. Choose Türkçe in Settings › General › Language. "System" follows your Windows display language.

Can I write my own widget?

Yes. A web widget is a folder with a manifest.json and an HTML page. It follows the dock's theme and gets settings, storage, notifications and a right-click menu through a small window.dockhub API. Share it as a .dockwidget file or simply a link (a manifest.json or a GitHub folder): users paste it in Settings › Widget gallery › Install from link and see its permissions before installing. The guide is docs/widget-sdk.md in the repository.

Can I use it alongside StartAllBack or ExplorerPatcher?

It is not recommended. Running multiple third-party tools that hook or modify the Windows taskbar simultaneously can cause conflicts.

Can I install it with winget?

Once the package is accepted into the Windows Package Manager repository: winget install SametGurtuna.DockHub. Until then, use the installer from GitHub Releases.

Is it completely free?

Yes. DockHub is free to download and use, and its full source code is on GitHub.

Make your desktop feel like home.

Free, never asks for administrator rights, and your original taskbar is always one click away.
